The competition has revealed five to six nominees for each of the nine different categories, which include Abstract, Animals, Nature, and People.

The nominees were picked from over 2,000 shots submitted by photographers from 113 countries. While the focus is on aerial drones, the competition says it welcomes submissions of “aerial photography and videos captured through various means,” including images taken from fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, balloons, blimps, dirigibles, rockets, kites, and parachutes.
