Chick-fil-A Founder's Grandson Andrew Cathy To Be The Next CEO, To Take Over In November

Chick-fil-A has announced some changes in their corporate offices. The fast-food chain giant has said that its chief executive officer Dan Cathy is stepping down from the top position. Dan has been the CEO of Chick-fil-A since 2013. The company has named the grandson of Chick-fil-A’s founder as the new CEO. This will keep the company family-run for a third generation. Chick-fil-A was founded by S Truett Cathy and he was the first CEO of the company. 43-year-old Andrew Cathy will take over the new role from his father in November, the chain has announced.

Dan Cathy was appointed as the CEO of Chick-fil-A in the year 2013. Under his guidance, Andrew became an executive in 2015. He joined the company initially as chief people officer and went on to become head of operations. Later, he was assigned the responsibility of international strategy. After Andrew took over the new post, Dan will continue to serve as the chairman of the board. Commenting on the transition, Dan said that most successful transitions are made when you have someone prepared to lead. “I am in excellent health and my love for this business continues to be the same. But the transition is about Andrew’s readiness to lead Chick-fil-A,” Dan said in a statement.

Dan took over the responsibility after S Truett stepped down. After Truett passed away in 2014, he was appointed as the chairman of the board. His tenure with the company has been impressive as the annual revenue of the beloved fast-food restaurant has gone up to USD 16 billion from USD 1 billion when he took over. Chick-fil-A has been run by the Cathy family ever since it was founded in the 1960s. Cathy’s always focused on keeping the business in the family. Dan even signed an agreement with his father in 2000. The main highlights of the covenant were that the company will be always kept private and it would never open on Sundays. There are no signs that Andrew is going to change any of these things.
