Exclusive-Ryanair ready to wait years for Boeing to cut MAX price, says O’Leary

September 8, 2021

ROME (Reuters) – Ryanair is willing to wait years if necessary to place a new major order with Boeing as prices are too high, Chief Executive Michael O’Leary told Reuters in an interview in which he also downplayed the chance of a deal with rival Airbus.

The Irish airline, one of Boeing’s biggest customers, said on Monday it had ended talks over a purchase of 737 MAX 10 jets worth tens of billions of dollars due to differences over price.

O’Leary said Ryanair would not spend time on discussions with Boeing on the MAX 10 “for 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 years – until we get to the next crisis.”
