Facebook Now Tests Tools To Allow Group Admins To Make Money, Some Other Features

November 9, 2021 by Eddie Worrell Leave a Comment

Facebook has been experimenting with a lot of new features and monetization has been their main focus. The social media platform is working on a tool that will allow groups admins to earn money with features likes shopping, fundraising, and subscriptions. The updates were announced by the company during its annual Communities Summit event. It said that new features will help those people who have to build those communities to sustain themselves. So the company, which is now known as Meta, will give group admins three options in which they can monetize their communities.

The community shop is simply an extension of the already existing feature. This will allow admins to sell goods and earn money. Similarly, fundraisers will let admins crowdfund any project. Or simply, they can reduce the cost of running the group. However, the third feature that Facebook is working on is completely new. These are paid subgroups. This is a kind of subscription-based small group within a big group. The group members will have to pay a monthly fee in order to participate in the group. Facebook is also allowing users to make smaller free subgroups. But the company is working on the paid version of it in order to create subscription-based products.

Elsewhere, the social media giant has been creating ways that will allow creators to make money. Facebook vice president of Communities Maria Smith said that not all the group admins are in need of this feature but there are others who are already selling their merchandise. “So the company would be happy to bring the tool directly to them.” On the other hand, keeping a check on these groups has been an important task for the company. This is mainly because many of such groups have been home to some of the most toxic content. There are some other features like group admins will be able to change font styles and background colors.
