President Joe Biden To Urge World Leaders To Facilitate In Immunizing 70 Percent Of The World Population By Next Year

September 20, 2021 by Steven Burnett Leave a Comment

President Joe Biden has set a new goal to help the world fight against the ongoing COVID19 pandemic. Under the new program, President Biden is going to call on the world’s prominent leaders to come forward and commit to immunizing at least 70 percent of the world population by next year. As per the report, he is going to launch the new initiative during a summit gathering where he will discuss the state of affairs linked to the pandemic. This summit congregation is supposed to take place next week. Health officials have said that draft targets allocated by the US to potential summit members list a donation of 1 billion extra vaccine doses as well and speedy delivery of 2 billion doses that have been committed already.

The Biden government will assign further goals to this initiative during the summit. Experts have said that draft targets include a call for nations to make 3 billion doses accessible this year itself and 7 billion doses by the next year. The new program has targets for funding vaccine readiness and supervision, obtaining ancillary supplies, and fighting vaccine hesitancy around the world. The US government has said that countries who wish to take part in the summit gathering need to promote the list of draft targets and submit a short video stating how they plan to achieve these targets. The summit that is going to take place next week will overlap with the annual meetings of the United National General Assembly (UNGA).

Experts have said that most probably, the COVID19 summit will take place virtually however it has been scheduled around the annual diplomatic whirl that enfolds the United National meetings. As per the latest report, additional high-level meetings are scheduled towards the end of this year and early 2022. Dr. Vivek Murthy, who is the US Surgeon General, has said that the Biden government will have new declarations to be announced around the time of the UN meetings. He has said that officials will be working on new mandates in the coming days specifically on a global front. President Joe Biden will be making new statements prior to the UN General Assembly regarding extra measures that will help immunize the world. Health officials from the US government have said that invitations to world leaders to participate in the COVID19 summit have a list of targets such as inoculation goals, addressing the shortage of oxygen, and ensuring all nations have enough treatment options for COVID19 patients.

Nations are assigned with tasks to donate 1 billion test kits and set up a surge manufacturing facility for personal protective equipment (PPE kits) in each region. A spokesperson aboard the Air Force One, Jean-Pierre has said that it is safe to believe that officials are planning COVID19 appointments for President Joe Biden on the edges of the high-level UN General Assembly next week. She has said that as part of President Biden’s efforts to unite world leaders to put an end to this pandemic, it will be a huge opportunity for the US government to connect to its counterparts during UNGA week on this issue.  The Biden government has pledged to turn the United States into an armory of vaccines that can be sent to the world. However, the US government has faced flaks over its plan to vaccinate its citizens with booster shots while many low-income countries are still waiting to vaccinate their people with the first doses of COVID19 shots. The World Health Organization (WHO) has urged countries to put a halt on booster shots distribution until all countries across the world have enough doses of shots to immunize their populations.

Health experts from the US have said that the US has sent more than 140 million doses of COVID19 shots to other nations across the world. The US has been making its vaccine donations through the COVAX global vaccine deal. Jean-Pierre has claimed that the US has been leading the world in ending the pandemic and the country will continue its efforts in the future as well. Health officials from the US have been discussing plans to end this pandemic in the best way possible. To improve the level of the country’s collective goal, the US will continue to unite international communities to take urgent actions. On the other hand, in the US, four US military divisions have declared deadlines to vaccinate members of active duty reserve and the National Guard Service.

Last month, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has said that all service members of the US military need to be inoculated after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted full sanction to COVID19 shot that has been developed by the Pfizer-BioNTech. The officials have said that the US military will need active duty members to be immunized by 15 December 2021. Experts have said that all members of the National Guard Service will need to take vaccines by 30 June 2022. The officials from the US military have said that soldiers who do not abide by the order or do not have exemption requests pending or approved might face suspension or might be eliminated from the list of promotions within the Army. They have said that such service members might be given reprimands that can end their careers. The penalty for not being vaccinated by the given deadlines will differ by the ranks of service members in the US Army.  The officials have said those first sergeants, officers, commanders, and command sergeant major and those who are in considered leadership posts in the army will be given suspension and relief if they are not immunized by the deadlines or do not have a request for exemption.

The US Air Force as well has set deadlines for its personnel to be vaccinated. All active-duty members in the US Air Force need to be immunized by 2 November 2021. Members of the Air Force National Guard and Air Force Reserve need to be inoculated by 2 December 2021. Active-duty members of the US Navy need to be fully immunized by 28 November 2021. While members of the Navy Reserve Service need to be fully vaccinated by 28 November 2021.
