Coronavirus pandemic has changed the way people used to see the world. And all businesses are now adapting to the changed scenario. Restaurants are also making required changes as they have witnessed a sharp surge in online orders. This is why Taco Bell has started its first digital-only restaurant in the United States. So if a customer wants to have a soft taco or Crunchwrap Supreme, he or she will have to order it digitally before visiting the restaurant. The Mexican-themed restaurant also has automated kiosks for food orders. There are 10 self-order kiosks inside the restaurant. However, the restaurant will continue to serve in an old-fashioned way. People can even buy souvenirs of Taco Bell at the kiosks.
The restaurant is located inside the iconic Paramount Building. Taco Bell has also made arrangements for a separate entrance where mobile and delivery orders can be picked up by cubbies. Taco Bell has strategically chosen the location like Times Square in New York is one of the busiest tourist destinations in the city. Although this has number has been affected because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But the pandemic has also forced other restaurants to open digital only outlets. This is because the online sale is going up these days. Starbucks and Chipotle are among the first few to adopt this.
Taco Bell has designed the new restaurant to cut down on long lines during peak hours. The decision to open digital only restaurant in the United States is inspired by the success of Taco Bell’s Cantina format. The company feels that Cantina will help it deepen its footprint in urban areas. They are smaller restaurants but with more modern look. Taco Bell already has over 20 such restaurants in New York. Meanwhile, this is not the only digital only restaurant of Taco Bell. The company already has its first such location in London. Taco Bell opened the digital only restaurant in the Wembley section last year.
