Popular instant messaging app Telegram has launched a series of new features. The features are aimed at easing the exchange of messages. Telegram said that it has added read receipts support. It is, however, restricted to groups. Small groups’ users can now check who all have seen their messages sent. Users will require selecting the sent message to see who all have seen it. The company also said it will now onwards maintain the record of messages exchanged on the platform only for seven days. Once the period of seven days is over, users will not be able to see it. The seven days timing will start right from the time when a user sent a message. This, Telegram said, will further protect users’ privacy.
Telegram has also introduced interactive emoji. The company said that users can also send a full-screen animation in chat. When users will send a select animated emoji, they can tap on it for sending an animation. Telegram said that the new interactive emoji will increase the engagement time and make chatting interesting. Users can now share emotions in real-time. The animations will be accompanied by vibrations. This will be visible to all the users in the group. When two users are exchanging messages, the animations and vibrations play will work for both of them simultaneously. This will let users become more expressive and enhance the overall experience.
Groups’ admins can also record from the Live Stream. They can save the portion of the live stream or video chat for viewing later. The file will be uploaded to the Saved Messages window when the recording is finished. The company has also introduced new chat themes. Telegram said that themes will bring coordination and decoration together to chats. There are a total of 8 themes. Users can apply themes to specific chats. The themes will showcase colorful animated backgrounds and unique patterns. To use all the new features launched by Telegram, users will have to update the app to the latest version. Telegram’s update is available across all the platforms.
