WhatsApp has been losing the trust of millions of users, ever since Facebook announced a new privacy policy. These users are now looking for a better and encrypted instant messaging platform. After outrage, Facebook decided to postpone policy changes for three months. So users effectively have three months time to search for an alternative. But many fear that leaving WhatsApp means they will lose all their chats. But Telegram has found a way to make this transition smoother and allows users to transfer all WhatsApp chat history. Telegram said that it has already added 100 million new users this month. The messaging app is confident that the new feature is definitely going to accelerate the process.
It has launched a move-history tool that allows users to move their chat history from apps likes WhatsApp, KakaoTalk, and Line to Telegram. The company said that users can also import documents and videos to Telegram. Explaining the process, the company said that the chat will be added to Telegram the day they are imported. But chats will have original timestamps to make sure that users know when the chat took place. The app has also added some features to its audio player, updated animation on Android, and has also added some new greeting stickers. It also added a feature to report fake accounts.
People are leaving WhatsApp and switching to other messaging apps because trust and security are very important to them. Telegram and Signal have tried to encash the move with some updated features. Signal has been famous for having this reputation. However, some users were not happy with the app because of its lack of features. But that is now changing at a very fast pace. Signal has been rolling out various updates for both Android and iOS. WhatsApp users who are looking for an alternative are wasting no time in testing features of Signal and Telegram. This has resulted in an increase in the number of users of these messaging apps.
