Amazon announces Dates For This Year’s Prime Day, Customers Can Expect Huge Discounts On Wide Range Of Products

June 12, 2021 by Jennifer Preston Leave a Comment

Amazon Prime Day sale for the year 2021 will take place on June 21 and June 22, the company officially announced. The company’s annual shopping holiday is again not going to be held in July. Traditionally, Amazon has been organising the shopping extravaganza in mid-July. However, last year it had shifted the event to October because of the coronavirus pandemic. The company has recently hinted that it will most likely organize this year’s Prime Day in the second quarter. Amazon is holding Prime Day since 2015. Most of the offers available during the event are exclusively Prime members. One year Prime membership costs USD 120 and offers access to movies, music, TV shows, and free home delivery.

According to experts, the main motive behind organizing this event regularly is to build loyalty with Prime subscribers. It is also a way to hook new buyers to the program. However, experts also say that Prime Day only makes up around 1 per cent to 2 per cent of its annual sale. Amazon also uses the event to highlight how independent merchants selling their products on the platform get benefitted by the sale. As far as offers are concerned, Amazon Prime vice president Jamil Ghani has said that Prime members would have more than two million deals to grab this year. This is more than what the company had offered last year.

Amazon said that it is investing more than USD 100 million this year to help small medium businesses. To promote small businesses, the company is giving Prime members USD 10 as credit to invest if they spend the same amount on selected small businesses on the platform. But Prime members will have to do this from June 7 to June 20. For those who are unaware, this year’s Prime Day is happening at a time when the company is set to witness a momentous change as Andy Jassy is about to replace Jeff Bezos as the chief executive officer. Also, Amazon has also said that it is purchasing Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios for USD 8.45 billion. The decision is likely to help bolster the company’s entertainment business.
