It helps treat complications due to Covid. The study was conducted by Imperial College London. It said that the drug can be given to kids with serious conditions after Covid infection. Over 600 children developed a serious disorder in the UK after infection. It is called a multi-system inflammatory syndrome. It affects one in nearly 50,000 kids who are infected with Covid.

The disorder occurs two to six weeks after catching the infection. It affects children of all ages. But it is very common in teenagers and older group children. The disorder is characterized by certain symptoms that children experience. The symptoms include persistent high fever. Fever is often accompanied by pain in the abdomen and vomiting. Red eyes and rash are also among other symptoms of the disorder. The study noted that some children developed inflammation. This affected the arteries, causing them in widening. These arteries supply blood to the heart. Researchers suggested three treatments for the disorder. One among them is immunoglobulin with Corticosteroids.

The two other methods to treat the disorder are immunoglobulin and corticosteroids. All three methods reduce inflammation. The study said that Corticosteroids are cheap. The drug is available across the world. Immunoglobulin is an expensive treatment. Also, there is a shortage worldwide. Poor and middle-income nations have a serious crisis of immunoglobulin. Researchers said that antibodies are produced from blood. These antibodies reduce the inflammation rate. The study noted a fatality rate of 2 to 4 percent due to the disorder. The findings are significant as there are talks of children getting more affected due to Covid. The study could provide an insight into developing drugs and methodology to protect children from Covid.
