Apple Introduces Long-Awaited AirTags Accessory For USD 29, Include U1 Chip For Precision Finding

April 28, 2021 by Jennifer Preston Leave a Comment

Apple has finally introduced its much awaited AirTags. The tracker has launched at the company’s Spring Loaded virtual event. The accessory that is useful in finding things like wallet, key, etc will compete with SmartTag Bluetooth of Samsung and Tile trackers. Though the rumours about the probable launch of AirTags have been around for over a year, it remained elusive at events of the tech giant. One can use the small beacon–style devices to find a whole range of products with the help of the Find My app. Apple creates a helpful overlay on iPhone with the use of a feature called Precision Finding. This can easily help users to find their lost items.

The precision finding feature used by Apple gets input data from the camera, accelerometer, and gyroscope. It incorporates audible feedback, visual and haptic while one is searching for the lost item. These tags are water and dust resistant and can be personalized with emojis. These tags can be attached with items whit the help of a separate keychain. Apart from the built-in speaker, AirTags are equipped with a U1 chip and have a battery life of over one year. AirTags also supports Siri. The price of AirTags starts at USD 29 but the company has also introduced a super value pack of four AirTags that cost USD 99.

iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 already have U1 Ultra Wideband chips. Precision Finding feature is better equipped to accurately determine the distance and direction of a lost AirTags when compared to Bluetooth alone. If you are finding the lost item with the help of iPhone 11 or iPhone 12, the feature will accurately direct you towards the AirTags using all the inputs. The mobile will display the precise direction in which you can get your item. If AirTags is out of Bluetooth range, it will use the Find My network feature used by Apple devices. It can detect Bluetooth signals and then relay them to the iPhone of the owner.
