Health Experts Claim Cases Linked To The Delta Variant Might Exhibit Little Different Symptoms Of COVID19

August 1, 2021 by Eddie Worrell Leave a Comment

Health authorities have been concerned about the rapidly spreading Delta variant across the world. They have warned that cases that are linked to the Delta variant show a diverse kind of symptom. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been reporting a dramatic surge in the number of cases of COVID19 in the United States. As hospitals are being flooded with new cases among younger and unvaccinated people, health care providers have said that people should watch out for a different type of symptom as a highly contagious Delta strain has been circulating across the country. They have claimed that the Delta strain triggers a different kind of symptom as compared to the original virus. People who are infected with the Delta variant might not have a loss of smell and taste, said the experts. The variant of concern can lead to symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, fever, body aches, and congestion as well. Health experts have said that people who are dealing with such symptoms should immediately get in touch with their health care providers. Health officials have said that many patients who have been infected with the Delta variant might not know that they are infected without a test until their symptoms exacerbate. Experts from the CDC have said that fever, chills, cough, difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath, muscle and body aches, and loss of taste and smell, sore throat, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, headache, and diarrhea, are some common symptoms of the disease.

Scientists who have been studying the concerning strain have said that the Delta variant can transmit very easily. They have said that it takes a less amount of viral load to make patients very sick. This strain has been found in India for the first time during the second leg of the pandemic. It has been detected in the US in January 2021 and now it is circulating in more than 90 nations across the world. Dr. Mary Clarke who is the president of the Oklahoma State Medical Association has confirmed that the Delta variant is more dangerous as compared to the original strain of the virus. The CDC has reported that the existing seven-day average of daily new cases of COVID19 in the US has shot up by 69.3 percent as compared to two weeks earlier. The rate of death due to COVID19 in the US well has increased significantly. The Seven-day average of hospitalization as well has shot up majorly in the last few weeks. Health officials have said that people should keep wearing masks when they are at crowded places and indoors as well even if they are fully vaccinated. They should keep hand hygiene and follow social distancing. Health care providers should motivate their patients to receive COVID19 shots.

Experts have said that in the past month, the average number of new cases has increased twofold across the United States in the last month. They have said that the US government should maintain the rate of vaccination as it has been in the month of April 2021. If the rate of vaccination would have been the same as it has been in April, the country might have reached herd immunity in June 2021 itself. An infectious expert at the University of South Florida, Dr. Thomas Unnasch has said that the number of cases is going to rise further in the country. As per the latest data from the CDC, there have been around 38000 new cases of COVID19 in the United States. As per the Florida Department of Health, the number of infections has shot from 23000 to 73000 in the last two weeks, it is an average of more than 10000 new infections per day. Most new cases of COVID19 have been observed in people who have not been vaccinated yet. There have been many breakthrough cases of COVID19 among people who are fully vaccinated but do not fall severely sick. Health experts have said that the United States might face a fourth wave of the pandemic. Health officials from the US government have said that with the current rate of vaccination, the United States might achieve herd immunity by September 2021 as more and more people in the country are being tested positive for COVID19 and being immunized as well.
