New threats emerging from Nipah Virus: Health Experts says

Nipah virus is a virus that spreads from animals to humans. It is a deadly virus that is carried out by bats, is already caused among the humans in South East Asia, and has widespread severe potential. Nipah virus is transmitted from flying bats to other animals and humans. Usually, this virus affects animals like dogs, pigs, and other such animals. If this virus is spread among humans, it will cause serious illness to humans.

According to WHO, the Nipah virus infects animals and causes severe brain-damaging illnesses in humans. This virus is transmitted through the Nipah virus was first identified in the year 1999, in Singapore and Malaysia, and now, as it has made its outburst in Asia, the mortality rates have gone much higher. Richard Hatchette, who is chief executive of Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) who is also leading the Nipah virus conference in Singapore, said in his statement that from last twenty years, from when it was found out, there is no cure or vaccines still invented for this deadly virus. Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) is a public-private partnership firm between public, philanthropic, private disease experts, and civil organizations, which was started in 2017 to increase the development of vaccines against severely infectious diseases. Nipah virus can be transmitted by contaminated food from one person to another. In 2018, about 17 people were killed by the Nipah virus. Since its outburst, several people were killed by this virus, and it has spread from Singapore to Bangladesh and also in India. Humans infected from this virus, usually suffer from brain-damaging, sore throat, vomiting, dizziness, headache, muscle pain, fever, and acute respiratory infection.

There are no drugs or vaccinations for this Nipah virus infection. Even WHO has identified this infection as a “priority disease.” Hoping this Nipah virus conference in Singapore would help the health experts to find a cure for this infection.
